LOW-LATENCY CLOUD DEPLOYMENT

Chronicle in the Cloud

Chronicle offers flexible deployment for connecting and processing your data. Latency-sensitive workloads can be deployed on bare-metal, in the cloud or as hybrids. Chronicle runs on any cloud platform, including AWS, Azure, Alibaba, and Google Cloud.

Low Latency in the Cloud

performance icon

Many companies with low-latency requirements deploy on-premises. The main cloud providers now also offer bare-metal solutions, enabling latency-sensitive workloads to be placed in the cloud.

Hybrid Deployment

tick icon

Use Chronicle as a common messaging fabric for your time-critical core and the satellite services that interact with it.

Scalability

scale icon

Provides a high level of agility. Scale-up and down elastically as your workloads change. Easy to deploy and monitor low-latency workloads.

Observability

Expose key metrics via your monitoring solution of choice using Chronicle's versatile metrics interfaces.

Reliability

configurable icon

Messaging streams built on the Chronicle technology provide persistent and resilient inter-process communication with configurable failover and full HA/DR in the cloud.

Minimise Hardware Cost

investment icon

Cloud computing minimise the high cost of hardware investment. By using a subscription-based model for servers and memory the cash flow will be kept to a minimum.

Containerisation

Enjoy the benefits of containerisation for your low-latency services. Chronicle libraries provide low latency and low garbage performance. It is easy to package applications into containers—standardised executable components combining application code with the operating system libraries and dependencies required to run that code in any environment.

Orchestration

Chronicle clusters operate seamlessly in cloud-native environments such as Kubernetes, Nomad, and ECS. Deploy and manage low-latency Chronicle-based applications on the same stack as your less latency-sensitive components.

On-Premises vs Cloud

This test demonstrates how a traditional on-premises bare metal solution will perform in the cloud. The first graph is using AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core processors at 3.4 GHz.

The second graph is the AWS Dedicated RHEL z1d.metal host with 2x12 core Intel Xeon Platinum 8151 processors at 3.4GHz.

Considering that the Ryzen platform has faster memory, higher IPC, better turbo speed and core-to-core propagation than Intel, the conclusion is that the performance on AWS broadly matches on-premises.

In these examples, the hosts have been tuned for performance by Chronicle expert consultants. This is an essential step for achieving low-latency and low-jitter performance. Please get in touch with us to learn more about server tuning or how to move low-latency workloads into the cloud.
