Snapshotting and Recovery
Because every Map mutation is a durable Queue excerpt, the Queue-backed Map maintains a complete, replayable history of all state transitions. QueueBackedMap.writeSnapshot() provides two operational modes: writing a snapshot in-place to the current queue (enabling old roll cycles to be archived) or writing to a destination queue for a minimal, clean state export. The in-place snapshot writes a clear message followed by full current state — any tailer starting from that point gets a consistent baseline without replaying the entire history.
For forensic and compliance workflows, engineers can spin up a shadow Queue-backed Map, point it at the archived queue files, and replay from any timestamp to reconstruct the exact Map state at a given moment. With observed replay throughput of ~500,000 events/second, reconstructing hours of state history is a matter of seconds for typical enterprise workloads.
