Many organisations when starting out with a FIX Engine will select the Quick FIX Engine as it is open source and easy to access, however it is not a performant FIX Engine and eventually companies will realise the cost from the lack of performance exceeds the savings of using an open source solution .
Although not really a fair comparison as Quick FIX Engine isn’t really a low latency FIX Engine we ran some benchmarks of Quick FIX against the Chronicle FIX Engine and even we we’re surprised that with not a lot of tuning on commodity hardware we achieved a 95% improvement in performance
The benchmark was based on New Order Single measuring End to End latency at 10,000 messages per second
(All timings in Microseconds)
